  • Mother's Day brunch.

    Fannie (90) often brings together LBFE volunteers she’s met throughout the years. This year she enjoyed Mother’s Day with a few friends at 620 Jones’ drag brunch.

  • Sunset sisters.

    Peggy (76) and Sophia have been matched in our Visiting Volunteer program since early 2025 after meeting during our holiday visits. They often go to the pier for sunset strolls and always share a sweet selfie with us!

  • More than tech support.

    Initially matched in our Tech Allies program, Nike (89) and Diksha have enjoyed some wonderful outings together, including the ballet, museum, and opera, a tea party, and a number of lunch dates!

  • Long distance friends.

    Donald (92) and Rebecca were originally matched in our Visiting Volunteer program in 2020. When Rebecca moved to Europe, she stayed in touch with Donald and visits when she’s in town. This summer, they shared a meal together during her time here!

  • Always out & about.

    Joan (90) and Molly have been matched in our Visiting Volunteer program for just over 6 months, but in that short time have been on a few outings together, including a visit to the DeYoung Museum to see the Matisse Jazz Unbound exhibit. We heard they had a wonderful time!

  • Ride of a lifetime.

    One of our older adults, Gladys (85), had a thrilling first experience in a driverless vehicle, accompanied by her long-time Visiting Volunteer, Stacy. It was a fun and memorable ride for both of them. We're so happy Gladys got to share this exciting moment with Stacy, creating yet another special memory together!

  • Birthday surprise.

    During a winter visit, Will, a volunteer in our Stroll Buddies program, surprised his matched older adult, Kay, with a birthday celebration with neighbors in his backyard. Kay was delighted - especially when a neighborhood dog joined the festivities!

  • Recipe for friendship.

    Matched in our Visiting Volunteer program since 2024, Queenie (83) and Vivian have shared many enjoyable visits, including a recent one where Queenie taught Vivian how to make samosas!

  • Fast friends.

    Joni and Horgan (72) first met in our Stroll Buddies program in late 2024. They later decided to continue their friendship as a part of our Visiting Volunteer program and have been matched since then.
