It's easy to start helping provide companionship, outreach, and
advocacy for isolated and homebound elderly people in San Francisco.
Our Visiting Volunteer program is the core of our volunteer
activities. Volunteers who wish to take part in this program are paired
with an elder, whom they visit 2 to 3 times per month in the elder's
home. Volunteers and elders trade stories and keep each other company.
To download a Visiting Volunteer Application Form, please click here. For those who do not have the time to visit every week, or who
wish to try visiting an elder before committing to the Visiting
Volunteer program, Little Brothers has monthly events,
including Thanksgiving and Christmas Days. The pictures below give you
a sense of what to expect from a visit. If you are interested in
participating, please e-mail us at epolk@littlebrotherssf.org or
contact us at 415-771-7957. We would be more than happy to talk to you
more about the opportunities we have available and to answer any of
your questions.
Volunteers stop by the Little Brothers Offices to check-in. First time volunteers receive a brief orientation.
Volunteers pick up gift bags, complete with a hot meal and flowers for the elder. Maps and directions to the elder's home are also provided.
Volunteers go directly to their elders' homes.
Volunteers spend an hour getting to know their elders. The elders have many interesting stories to share.
